The Harry Potter trip!
Hi everyone,
Well it has been a busy few days for the RoR club! On Thursday we had nearly everyone turn up and we split into groups to continue writing and performing our scenes. These have to have a magic base (inspired by Harry Potter of course!) and the Year 8s have been brilliant in supporting the younger students. The Year 7s have brought a new dimension of enthusiasm to our club which is fabulous! Next week we are going to film the scenes and after Christmas we will watch them and judge to see if we can choose a "winner." Brilliant!
On Sunday 14 of us went to see the new Harry Potter film. Wow! We went to Jarman Park, where we trooped into the cinema laden down with sweets, chocolates, popcorn and drink. Yum! I thought the film was really good - what did the rest of you think? Who is your favourite character? What was your favourite bit of the film? I would love to know.
Finally - remember that next week, Thursday 16th, we will have a Christmas party so come to RoR as soon as you can that day - we will try and start at 1:30 and bring a packet of something - sweets, cakes, crisps, biscuits or something savoury. Also bring yourself a carton of drink or something still, not sparkling or fizzy. You can bring music too, and some ideas for games! The Christmassier the better!
Write back soon!

Harry Potter Trip!!!
Hello Harry Potter peeps!
I am going to buy the tickets tonight - there are about 15 of us which is very exciting. I think Miss Fish and Miss Bullen are going to come too! Woo hoo!
We will meet 20 minutes-half an hour beofre the film so there will be time to buy treats and popcorn and drinks if you want. But if you want to bring your own please do as it's cheaper - then you can keep them in your pocket or something until we get in to the screen.
I am looking forward to seeing it - but I can't remember what happened in the last film. Can someone remind me please?

An update
Hello everyone!
Sorry I've not been on the RoR blog lately! And apologies for the 2 weeks I was away and RoR wasn't on - we did have it last week but 2 Year 7 classes were on their trip to the Natural History Museum... how was it by the way?
Anyway this week RoR is definitely on and hopefully back to full strength. Don't forget to bring the book that you are reading at the moment. We need to catch up!
Hopefully lots of you can come to the Harry Potter Cinema trip - so far I have had 5 responses. It's going to be a lovely afternoon! :)
See you on Thursday! If you haven't got your early lunch pass yet come and see me a.s.a.p.
Toodlepip!

Can we make vidoes and watch them for the year 8 v year 7 and the winner gets chocolate or something! and had a fab half term with mirren and abbey
Hello Bloggers and Roarers!
I hope everyone had a lovely half term and did lots of fun things...like homework! Ha ha ha!
The camping trip sounds like fun - what did the rest of you get up to?
The last R.o.R. club before half term was a little crazy but good fun - it was Games Day and thanks to one of our lovely Year 7 girls we had some excellent games to play. We also played the "Most-People-to-get-around-a-scrabble-game!" which was very funny!
I heard a lovely thing this morning. One of my Roarers told me that she likes doing clubs at school because she gets to be herself. I think that is really important, and always lovely to hear. Thank you.
Any other positive comments always appreciated!
Does anyone have a suggestion of a film that is coming out soon that they want to watch?
Here's to another fun half term!

Thursday 14th October...any beyond!!!
Hi everyone!
I really enjoyed seeing your Drama work last Thursday - very funny! Sorry my point scoring was so random - but there was definitely a clear winner! If you didn't win...maybe you will next time! There will be lots more competitions!
This week is Games week as it is the last week before half term - if you have a game at home maybe you can bring it in. I am thinking mainly of word-type games as it is a reading club! I have got Scrabble and there is also the word stacker game that someone could ask to borrow from LS - any volunteers?
I hope that a certain person had a lovely birthday party this weekend! If it is ever your birthday on a RoR day - let me know beforehand!
I think the video idea is really good. What about next half term you get into small groups and plan a little story whch you can act out and film and then we could show them and the best could get a prize again? let me know your ideas! Have a nice week

Hiya RoRers!
Oh my goodness, i can finally have an excuse to use my laptop for hours on end!!!
I know it sounds like it is a loong time away but i really can't wait until the chrismas party. it will be so fun, (like it always is) and will be even better now there are more members from lots of other forms. I also think it will be extra fun to have a Halloween party and have Haribo Tangfastics and scary music. (MJ Thriller.) Fancy dress is always on the minds of RoRers aswell. You know we'll make the effort!!
Think about it please Miss T. :D

Thursday 7th September
Hello Roarers!
Yes of course we have to have a Christmas Party! What a good idea!
We do have one most years, usually the Thursday before the end of term, and we all usually bring in cakes or sweets or chocolate - all very healthy! - and play daft games. Usually someone brings their ipod or mp3 or a cd and we listen to music too. Once or twice we've dressed up a bit, but that usually has to be quite simple being as there's not much time to change after period 4!
How does that sound? Do you have any other ideas you want to put in place? (They need to be do-able!)
Last Thursday was a really great club, I thought. I was very proud of my Year 8s who split themselves up from their "Bestest Friends" to have a group of younger students each. It was a really good "getting-to-know-each-other" session again. Each group chose a book from our Special Collection and started putting together a drama based on the "blurb!" I can't wait to see what you have all come up with this week!
This week it will be a quick "recap" rehearsal and then the final performances...and then the prize giving! The prize will go to the group who come up with the most polished and most organised performance!
Thank you to everyone who has blogged in answer to my last post - keep up the comments I really like hearing your suggestions and also your positive feedback.
I'm sorry I forgot to come over on Friday to help sort out the books but you will be able to take books away to read this week...I PROMISE! (There, you have it in writing...!)

Thursday 30th September - still getting to know each other!
My first blog for everyone in the R.o.R. club!
Today lots of the "Roarers" came early which was great. It was good to have a chat and some brought their lunch so they got the most out of their lunchtime.
I was hoping that we would have all the books organised and sorted into boxes for next Thursday but I've realised that with Open Evening on Wednesday, it will be a very busy week! So maybe we can get a little group together on Friday 8th to have a go. Come along about 1:45 to A13 if you think you can help.
This Thursday lunchtime was very busy indeed! Most people wanted to finish hearing the "funny" stories from the week before - they are very strange indeed! This took quite a long time but was worth it! (Banana anyone? :) )
We then started the "Book Charades" game but each group only got one go each as we were running short of time. It was funny to see people trying to act out things like Roald Dahl's "Revolting Rhymes!" I'm not sure if people want to carry on with this next week or start the Drama Competition - let me know what you think!
You can also use this blog to give me any other ideas or feedback you think would make the club extra special!
